Dr. Joutsa is the director of Turku BrainLab and chair of Turku Brain and Mind Center. He got his MD in 2009, PhD in 2012 and medical specialty degree in neurology in 2020 from University of Turku. Dr. Joutsa completed his postdoctoral training focusing on multimodal neuroimaging and non-invasive brain stimulation at MGH Martinos Center and BIDMC Berenson-Allen Center at Harvard Medical School in 2016-2018. From 2019 to 2023 he worked as assistant/associate professor of neuroimaging at University of Turku. Dr. Joutsa has received several awards for his research work, including the prestiguous early career researcher award from the Finnish Medical Society Duodecim, which is given biannually to one medical researcher across all disciplines in Finland. He is currently professor of neurology at University of Turku and chief neurologist at Turku University Hospital with special interest in movement disorders and brain stimulation.
